Paragliding is a flying sport invented by a group of flying enthusiasts who loved parachuting and gliding wings. It is very popular in Europe, America, Japan, and other countries and has also created a whirlwind in Taiwan.

Paragliding is different from traditional parachuting; it is a kind of flying machine.

Long ago, mankind made countless attempts and explorations to find a pair of wings. In ancient Chinese lands, there were many beautiful legends about human attempts to fly, such as "driving in space".

Today, the birth of paragliding gives humans the wings of flight. People can fly freely in the sky, enjoying the peace and beauty of being "free" from the earth's gravity.

Paragliding originated in Europe in the early 1970s when some mountain climbers glided down from the mountains by parachute, experiencing a wonderful feeling and fun, thus creating a new aviation sports project. The initial paragliding was borrowed from the winged square parachute used in airplane parachuting, which mainly focused on descent, fast descent speed, and good safety performance.

Through more than twenty years of development and evolution, paragliding now has the longest flight time of 17 hours and the farthest flight distance of more than 300 km. It embodies a kind of communication between humans and nature and is loved by those who admire nature.

In the past few years, this sport has rapidly developed in western countries, and developed countries like Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Spain have many expert pilots. People drive paragliders, run and take off on slopes, swim in the air, talk with mountains and the wilderness, shake hands with the white clouds, integrate their bodies and minds into nature, and enjoy the bravery and strength of human beings.

In Asia, paragliding is very popular in economically developed countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan Province of China, with more than 100,000 enthusiasts. In the late 1980s, paragliding was introduced to mainland China and developed rapidly.

The paraglider itself has no power; it is able to fly because of the special shape of the parachute suit after it is filled with air (flying wing). It depends on the pilot's control, combining various characteristics of the atmosphere (aerodynamic) flight.

The traditional parachute, that is, the general parachute, can only produce falling resistance in the air; there is no lift. Meanwhile, the paraglider will produce speed and lift in the process of air flight, and its speed and lift are much greater than its resistance.

Because of its structure, the inner structure of the paraglider jacket is equipped with an airbag. Before it is filled with air, the paraglider has no substantial angles, and once the inner airbag is filled with air, the angles of the front of the paraglider will appear.

In this way, the paraglider draws the relative airflow away from the top and bottom of the wing when flying in the air. The resistance is parallel to each other's wind, and the weight is combined with the air above the wing to produce speed forward for the paraglider.

Alpine gliding is a thrilling and exhilarating experience that typically involves taking off from the top of a mountain that is several hundred meters high. The takeoff site is usually situated on a steep slope, so it requires some courage.

Before takeoff, you should lay out your parachute at the takeoff site, check all of your equipment, confirm the wind direction and speed to ensure that the flight conditions are favorable, and then take off decisively under the guidance of your instructor. It is crucial not to hesitate at this point. Remember not to attempt to take off forcefully if there is a chance of rain or if the wind speed exceeds the allowable limit.

If you plan on participating in paragliding, you must find a reputable paragliding club or a specialized flight school where you can learn under the guidance of experienced instructors. You will start with the basics of ground practice and gradually progress to mastering initial flight, intermediate flight, advanced flight, and special flight skills.
